<aside> 📄 Being able to correctly moderate content relies on understanding what type of content you are reading or examining. CareerVillage offers Students multiple ways to help plan for their career, which means that not all content has the same purpose. It is very important to understand this list of content so that you can determine whether or not it should be approved based on its context.

As a moderator, understanding the types of content you are reviewing is essential. As you start out, you will probably be getting used to the different types of content (there are a lot!)

The reason you must know what each of these looks like in context is that whether you approve or flag the post relies on whether it fits the type of content. For example, comments which contain advice need to be flagged so they can be converted to answers. However, if all you did was read the content itself, you may have let this problem go completely unnoticed!

Our moderation Slack channels offer some ways to help you confirm the type of content you're reading. Any part of an incoming piece of content in the #mod-inbox that is written in blue font is a hyperlink. Typically, this will take you to the actual, live CareerVillage.org webpage where that content currently exists. The user who posted it may also have their profile linked to their name. Occasionally, a hyperlink may go to site administration pages, which are only accessible by staff. If you are unsure what type of content you are looking at, or the context in which it appears, try clicking on one or more of the hyperlinks to look at the content on CV. This will help you interpret whether it can be approved.

Take a look at the list below. Make sure that you can distinguish these from each other, and that you understand what each should/should not contain. If the content doesn't make sense for the type it is, or if it seems like spam, reject it!
